The owner of the Santa Clarita flooring company Aquakor sat down with KHTS AM-1220’s George Cummings recently to explain how to know when to replace carpeting in SCV homes.

The best way to tell if carpeting needs to be replaced is by the look and finish of the fiber, according to Krikor Akoubian of Aquakor.
If the fiber is essentially gone, or stains created by spills or pet urine are no longer cleanable, then it’s probably time to replace the carpeting, Akoubian said.

A new kind of carpeting called BET carpeting are made from recycled bottles, and a special type of carpeting containing odor-absorbing enzymes is also available for pet owners, smokers and any homeowners who want to protect their floors from food spills.
“If you’re going to be looking for carpet, make sure that the back of the sample says BCF,” Akoubian said, “because best continuous filament means that the solution, the color of the carpet is dyed inside on the fiber, it’s not an exterior dye.”
Akoubian said the carpet installation process is “very easy” and explained the steps Aquakor staff take during an installation.
After removing the existing carpet and padding, Aquakor’s trained professionals then sweep and vacuum the floors, make sure everything is in good condition and reinstall in the padding and carpet.
“We use a power stretcher to make sure that the carpet is set properly,” he said.
There are currently several specials on carpeting available at Aquakor, including patterned carpeting in a variety of colors.
