This week’s Dog of the Week is a 2-year-old American Bulldog mix named Zuko, looking for a second chance at a loving forever home after being surrendered by his previous owner.

Identified by shelter ID A5801657, Zuko is a 70-pound dog who has already shown he can get along with other dogs, passing his shelter assessment with positive interactions with every dog he met.

According to his previous owner, he has done well with large dogs, small dogs and cats. He was also described as being great with children, making him a potential fit for a family looking to welcome a four-legged companion into their home.

Zuko was surrendered to the shelter because his owner was expecting a baby. Despite the circumstances that brought him to the shelter, he comes with several qualities that could help make the transition into a new home easier.

He is reportedly potty trained, crate trained for overnight stays and accustomed to spending time alone in the backyard while his owner is at work.

Now, he is waiting for someone to give him the opportunity to become part of a new family.

Those interested in meeting Zuko can visit the Santa Clarita Valley Animal Care Center, located at 31044 Charlie Canyon Road in Castaic.

The shelter is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Prospective adopters can also contact the shelter by email at [email protected].
