HAPPY HEART MONTH! Give Your Heart Health The LOVE It Needs!

It is National Heart Health Month. The American Heart Association recommends that you maintain a healthy lifestyle to promote good heart health.

This includes adequate rest, exercising daily, eating a balanced diet full of fruits and vegetables, making sure to keep your blood pressure in check, and reducing your stress levels as much as possible.

But what does that really mean living here and now?

Here’s WebMD’s best Santa Clarita Chiropractors, top tips for heart health.

Even if heart disease runs in the family, you’ve got high stress every day and bills to pay.

Rest

Most of know that we’re supposed to get eight hours of sleep every night, but few of us do.

But did you know that not all sleep is the same? Most smart watches can tell you the quality of your sleep. And like most things, timing is everything. The most daily stress recharge happens between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. So, if you don’t go to bed before midnight, you’re likely starting the day already in debt. Especially if you wake up stiff and sore, every morning.

When was the last time you woke up feeling great?

Exercise

Regular exercise is an important part of staying heart healthy. Studies have shown that regular physical activity improves cholesterol levels and helps reduce the risk for developing heart disease. Aim for at least 20 minutes of moderate physical activity per day such as brisk walking. Moderate intensity activities are activities that make you feel warm but not out of breath. You can also break it up into shorter sessions such as three 10-minute brisk walks throughout the day.

Stress Management

One of the best kept secrets in Stress Management is Upper Cervical Chiropractic!

Top research scientists around the world have discovered that tension in the joints around the back of your head, the upper cervical spine, magnify and multiply tension throughout the entire body. That tension can compromise blood flow in the brain and increase stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline which can lead to hypertension (high blood pressure), headaches, fatigue, anxiety, depression, etc…

Upper Cervical Chiropractors focus on reducing stress in the head, neck, and shoulders.

By correcting these upper neck misalignments with specific (no twist or crack) chiropractic adjustments it helps reduce stress levels allowing your body systems to return to alignment, balance, and coordination. That means, it gives you a chance to relieve, relax, and repair again!

And what that really means is more energy, creativity, flexibility and strength to work and play as long and hard as you like.

Nutrition

Eating a balanced diet, full of fresh fruits and vegetables is essential for maintaining good heart health. Fruits and vegetables provide essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber which help reduce the risk for cardiovascular disease. Avoid processed foods that are high in trans fat and added salt which can increase the risk for developing heart disease.

Some people tolerate more protein and fat than others. And you may have difficulty digesting a lot of vegetables. That’s where it helps to know how nutraceuticals vs. functional foods can help you.

When comparing Santa Clarita Chiropractors, you may want to consider Dr. Thomas Polucki, he has two post graduate certifications in Functional Medicine and Nutrition to help you get the care you deserve.

As you can see there are a few easy ways you can stay heart healthy during this month’s celebration! Whether it be through getting to bed earlier, taking a walk, diet changes, or discovering upper cervical chiropractic care – Take some time this month to focus on yourself – and give your heart the Love it deserves.

About Carl Goldman

Carl Goldman, along with his wife, Jeri repurchased KHTS AM-1220, Santa Clarita’s hometown station on October 24, 2003. They owned it from 1990-1998, and then sold it to Clear Channel Communication in 1998, buying it back from Clear Channel in 2003. Since then, they have rebuilt KHTS as a critical voice of the Valley. In 2015 the radio station moved to its new headquarters on Main Street in Old Town Newhall, in the original Newhall Hardware building. In 2018 an FM was added, 98.1, with its signal being simulcast with AM-1220. In January 2020, Carl and Jeri cruised on the Diamond Princess. Carl was one of the first Americans to come down with Covid-19. Months earlier he was impacted by Guillain Barre Syndrome as a result of a Shingles vaccine in September 2019. He is still in recovery from the vaccine.
