The Best Ways You Can Promote Your Local Event

Do you have an event coming up? The event’s success comes from multiple factors, with how you advertise it being one of them.

You could have the best, most fun event planned for the entire year. However, if you don’t spend the time promoting it, that highly-anticipated event will turn unsuccessful very quickly due to the lack of attendance.

Don’t let your event slide to the backburner. The following five tips will help you promote your event for the best turnout possible.

Create and Distribute Posters

Posters are an excellent, free source of advertisement. Many local businesses will allow you to hang up a poster for an event in its community. Why not take advantage of this opportunity?

First, you need to design your poster that stands out amongst the rest. Use an online poster maker software to help you create an eye-catching design. You want to provide enough information (what the event is about, date, time, location and who it’s put on by) without overwhelming the reading with too much. Bullet points are an excellent way to get the most important information across.

Once you have your poster, start handing them out around your community. Go to as many businesses as possible and ask if you can hang them on a bulletin board or the door. Check for any community events bulletin boards as well.

Submit to the Local Newspaper

Many local newspapers have sections to promote upcoming events, both on their physical paper and online edition. Going this route allows you to add a bit more information about the event and include things like why this event is important.

Create an Event on Facebook

Facebook events are an excellent tactic for free advertisement. Once you create the event, you can invite everyone you know, share it on your social media timeline and ask others to share it as well.

Using this event can be more than simply for advertisement. You can also use it as a way to keep yourself organized. Those interested can click if they’re attending or not. Attendees can also post any questions about the event.

Ask For Help

No one says you have to advertise your event by yourself. Take advantage of those around you and their social media accounts. It doesn’t cost them or you anything to make a special post on their accounts, promoting your event.

Have a Contest

If your event has an entry price, have a contest for free tickets. These contests usually ask people to share the event on their social media and tag friends in the comments. It’s a simple and effective way for your current audience to reach out to a broader audience.

The contest doesn’t have to be for entrance tickets (especially if the event is free). You can do the same type of giveaway, but with an item or service from a local business. This is an excellent opportunity to team up with local businesses to help promote your event as well.

Use the above five tips to help you promote your upcoming event. The more methods you use, the better you’ll be at getting the word out.
