Colon Cleansing and Skincare
Colon cleansing is the practice of using supplements or other methods to flush your intestines. While it was popular in the early 1900s, it fell out of fashion in more recent years after newer detoxifying methods were introduced. Lately though, the practice of colon cleansing is enjoying a bit of a resurgence. That might be thanks in part to the newer claim that colon cleansing can have the added benefit of clearing your skin.
What can colon cleansing do for your skin?
When you start your colon cleansing journey, the first place you may see real results is in the condition of your skin. As your body starts to remove the toxins, you will start to see your skin glow and be clearer.
The skin is your largest organ, as well as the first thing people will see when they look at you. As such, the skin reflects how your body as a whole is doing: if you are not eating well, sleeping well or drinking enough water, you can be sure it will show on your skin. Sometimes though, you can be doing everything right and still have some trouble keeping your skin clear.
Colon cleansing is something you can consider to try to clear your skin. As the process of colon cleanse is about the removal of harmful toxins from within the body, the expelling of those toxins- which could be what is causing issues with your skin in the first place- could positively benefit your skin’s complexion and condition. Using Oral medicine such as a colon cleanse supplement can help solve the problem.
If you have ever been constipated, you are familiar with the feeling of being blocked up- consider that same feeling spreading, preventing your skin from reaching the healthy glow you desire.
What is inside your body causing your skin to act up?
Doctors and dermatologists have discovered a number of things that when ingested, can interact with your skin negatively. However, we are not aware of most of these ingredients and substances, and often keep consuming them without realizing that they are doing harm to your skin.
One of those foods is yeast, according to Daniela Turley, medical herbalist practicing in both New York and London, is sugar. While sugar on its own and in small quantities is not harmful, the buildup of it in your body could be what is causing your gut flora to become ‘yeasty’- causing an imbalance that affects much more than just the insides of your body. That imbalance can manifest on your skin, not just your digestive system, in acne and even in issues like bloating and feeling foggy.
Other foods that affect your skin and could be blocking up your digestive system include:
- White bread, which can have glycemic indexes that are bad for your skin and your body. The high sugar content could cause you to break out, and get picked up by your liver if the sugar levels are too high in your bloodstream.
- Coffee, which is fine if you control your consumption, but if taken too often and without any water in between, can act as a diuretic inside your body- meaning it can make your skin dry out and lose that nice glow.
So will it work?
Colon cleansing can provide a whole array of benefits to your body, your skin clearing and glowing being just one of them. If you commit to removing and limiting your intake of possible toxins into your body, you can have the clear, glowing skin you want. Make sure to consult with your doctor before committing to a cleansing plan.
