Hour 1 – Arif & Jeff open the show delving into tips for maintaining your credit score where you want it to be.

1. Be Vigilant About Fraud – pull your credit report, be sure the charges are yours, go to annualcreditreport.com for one free credit report a year.

2. Freeze Your Credit – Don’t need credit and need to stop charging, this is the way to go. “Basically like hitting the pause button on your credit,” states Jeff.

Inquiries on your credit score are very delicate and can impact you heavily when it comes to your credit score.

From CreditKarma.com

‘Hard inquiries generally occur when a financial institution, such as a lender or credit card issuer, checks your credit report when making a lending decision. They commonly take place when you apply for a loan, credit card or mortgage, and you typically have to authorize them. Most important to note, hard inquiries might lower your credit score by a few points and they may remain on your credit report for two years.

Soft inquiries typically occur when a person or company checks your credit report as part of a background check. Examples include employer background checks, getting “pre-approved” for credit card offers and checking your own credit score. A soft inquiry may occur without your permission. Soft inquiries may be recorded in your credit report, depending on the credit bureau, but they won’t affect your credit score.

“Anytime after six hits in a six month period – six hard hits, it reduces your credit score.” – Arif Halaby

Hour 2 – When it comes to preparing for retirement, how much money is enough money to retire?

What’s the number you need? Arif thinks its about income, multiple sources of income at that. In the second hour Arif & Jeff discuss retirement income further.
