A pay off is a satisfaction you get, the return. So by holding onto that grudge you get to hold something over someone, or have it in your back pocket if you need it. But using that mentality is poisionious and detrimental to you and others.

As kids we are proving reasons for us to be right, Jazmine said. We are constantly collecting evidence so when the time comes I can recall those moments and prove you wrong.

The greatest tool in your parent toolbelt is to apologize, Alex said. Clean up any argument or instance in where a grudge could form and deal with it in the moment or just a few minutes, hours, days, just do not let it drag out without being dealt with.
