Real Estate & Other Stuff – Real Estate “Jargon” And How It Affects Your Listing – October 7, 2022

Today on Real Estate & Other Stuff, Phil and Taylor discuss a variety of topics, from the executive of an online real estate giant stepping down, the top 10 Halloween candies, and a replica Bat Mobile causing a civil suit.

Phil and Taylor open up by comparing two separate online listings for the same house and how the wording can affect how potential buyers will view it. By either incorporating or eliminating these small details in an online listing, it can potentially attract or diminish the amount of interest a home will generate.

Phil reads from a list, asking Taylor her immediate thoughts and reaction to real estate phraseology commonly seen in listings.

“This is a guide to real estate jargon. Armed with a cheat sheet, you’ll be able to help decipher what you might be in for before you see it,” Phil reads.

Taylor believes that not only can these cause immediate judgment and confusion, but they can also be intentionally misleading by sellers.

“Or, it’s trying to lead you in a direction to cover up for something that the house doesn’t have,” Taylor said.
