SCV Senior Center: Online — July 15, 2020
On this episode of The Senior Hour with Dr. Gene Dorio and Barbara Cochran, Suzanne Nelson and Natalie Soto of the SCV Senior Center join the show to talk about the events the Senior Center has been hosting online and while seniors are picking up meals. They offer drive-thru entertainment for people picking up meals with concerts and performances that feature local dance studios, artists, choirs, and other local performers. The Senior Center has even transitioned a ton of their in-person classes to online videos and sessions that people can tune in live to. From educational classes to fitness classes to emotional support, the Senior Center is creating amazing online content that can be helpful for everyone, not just seniors. Suzanne and Natalie talk about how now is the perfect to help connect a senior to the Internet so they can access these wonderful classes to stay involved while so many remain isolated due to Covid-19. To see a calendar of all classes and remote events, you can click here to view it on their website. If you are interested in supporting the Senior Center by making a donation, you can do so by clicking here. Listen to Suzanne and Natalie talk about everything the Senior Center continues to provide to the Santa Clarita Valley in the first half of the podcast.
Myles talks about stress and isolation that arises from the pandemic for seniors who have been isolated. Comfort Keepers is doing its best to help out and adapt to the current circumstances and provide help in every way they can safely do so. Myles encourages to plan ahead and try to include seniors as much as possible. Myles also advocates for trying to get a senior to learn how to use a piece of technology so they at least feel included, especially if they have been isolated. Myles and everyone at Comfort Keepers In-Home Care is doing their best to continue to help seniors be happy and healthy in their homes. Listen to Myles talk about everything Comfort Keepers has to offer in the second half of the podcast.
