Many local schools that have been closed since Wednesday are expected to be reopened today…watch this space for updated information as we receive it.
All schools in the Wm. S. Hart Union High School District in Santa Clarita are expecting to open for a regular school day on Friday, Oct. 31. Should anything unusual change, notification will be given to local radio and television stations and posted on the District Website at www.hartdistrict.org before 6 a.m. However, it is expected that all SCV schools will be open on a regular schedule on Oct. 31.
After-school activities for the Hart District and sports events will still be determined on a case-to-case basis depending upon air quality conditions Friday. The Rampage regional band competition hosted by Hart High School will go on as planned on Saturday, Nov. 1, at College of the Canyons, with the first band taking the field at 12:45 p.m. An indoor venue at the college is available as a back-up should weather or air quality preclude use of the COC stadium as originally planned.
Newhall School District: Open (Unless anything major changes)
Saugus Union School District: Closed – – – this was already a schedule pupil-free day, so they will be closed as planned.
Sulphur Springs District: Open (Unless anything major changes)
Castaic School District: Open (Unless anything major changes)
College of the Canyons will be open on Friday Oct. 31. Note that the south parking lot will be used as a staging area for fire personnel and no parking will be allowed in the south lot.
