Drivers are being urged to avoid a portion of Soledad Canyon Road after heavy rainfall caused roadway and sidewalk to fall into the Santa Clara River bed, prompting a lane closure.
The westbound right lane of Soledad Canyon Road is currently closed between Camp Plenty Road and Langside Avenue due to storm-related impacts, according to the City of Santa Clarita.
City officials say sidewalks on both sides of the roadway in this area have been washed out, creating hazardous conditions for pedestrians. Residents are strongly advised not to use the sidewalks until repairs are completed.
Drivers should expect traffic delays, particularly during peak travel times, and are encouraged to drive with caution and use alternate routes when possible.
No estimated time for reopening has been announced.
Ed. Note: As of 4:00 p.m. Thursday Dec. 25 , no additional information is available regarding this incident.
