The Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control is asking for feedback on their new mobile app as it begins to roll out on smartphones in the county, including in Santa Clarita.

The app is designed to give the public a quick and easy way to search for lost pets, as well as have the opportunity to browse animals that are available for adoption.

The app also lists the location of all LA County animal care centers and upcoming events being held at each one, according to county officials.

“We are really excited for this new app,” said Don Barre, a spokesperson for Animal Care and Control. “But it is still in the testing phase. Please send us any issues you may have.”

The phone application is expected to feature photos of the animals available for adoption and information about the pet, including their ID number and shelter location, said Barre.

To fight bugs in the app, county officials are asking residents to download it, test it and give feedback via a survey.

The deadline to submit the survey is Jan. 22, after which developers will examine the feedback and make changes to the app as needed.

The app is now available on both the Apple App store and the Google Play store.

  1. Great idea! Any tool that help will pet guardians get reunited with their pets ASAP is always a very good thing! I hope it works well. (I cannot use it at this time. No smart phone.) Thank you. Also, for more adoptions!
