As Christmas approaches, Santa Clarita families looking for a unique holiday outing may want to consider the Irvine Park Railroad.
In the 137th installment of the KHTS series highlighting unusual destinations, the spotlight is on the Irvine Park Railroad’s annual Christmas Train, which travels through Santa’s Village.
Santa’s Village is free to enter, and no reservations are required.
Families are invited to bring friends and loved ones to Santa’s Village and enjoy a variety of festive activities, including ice fishing, Blizzard Ball, and Rudolph Racers.
Visitors can decorate cookies and create their own Christmas tree ornament at the Craft Corner. Filled with thousands of sparkling Christmas lights, Santa’s Village offers numerous photo opportunities throughout the area.
Food and snacks are available, along with hot chocolate and coffee. While reserved Christmas Train tickets are required to board the train and visit Santa, guests may still enjoy the thousands of lights and festive decorations throughout Santa’s Village without a reservation.
The Christmas Train operates rain or shine and takes riders through the historic Irvine Regional Park to meet Santa Claus.
The train departs from the station and drops passengers off at the North Pole, where children can share their wish list with Santa and have their photo taken. Photos may be taken with a personal camera or purchased through Irvine Park Railroad.
After visiting Santa, guests hop back aboard the train and enjoy colorful Christmas lights, festive decorations, and the magical “Tunnel of Lights” on the return ride to Santa’s Village.
Additional activities available in Santa’s Village include a mini digger, carnival games, ice fishing, and more.
