Falling Cell Phone Hits Child In Face At Six Flags, Second Incident In Two Months

The parents of a young girl are looking for answers after their daughter was injured at Six Flags Magic Mountain in August by being struck in the face by a cellphone while riding a rollercoaster.

A 9-year-old park guest, Kaiya Kriesberg was riding Wonder Woman Flight of Courage at Six Flags Magic Mountain in early August when she was hit in the face by a falling cell phone, according to her family.

Wonder Woman Flight of Courage is the tallest and longest single-rail coaster on the planet, where riders fly over 3,300 feet of track, towering 13 stories and soaring at speeds up to 58 miles per hour, according to Six Flags Magic Mountain officials.

The Kriesberg family reported the incident to park officials and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, however, the act of losing a cell phone on a ride and causing injury is not a crime.

“Our ride safety policy strictly prohibits loose articles, including cell phones, on all rides and attractions. Lockers and storage pouches are available for guests to secure personal items while riding. Safety is a partnership between our guests and the park, and guests must follow all written and verbal instructions for safe riding,” park officials said in a statement to FOX 11.

A similar incident was reported in July, when an 8-year-old girl received 10 stitches after being hit in the face with a cell phone while riding Twisted Colossus, another coaster at the theme park.

  1. It shouldn’t be all that difficult to determine who owns the cell phone that should not have been on the ride. Now, just sue them for a million dollars or more.

  2. The lockers are expensive and there aren’t enough of them. If you leave something at the “storage area” there’s a good chance it will simply be stolen.

Magic Mountain needs to figure this out and solve the problems.

  3. Just another problem caused by cell phone addiction!

  4. They need a new roller coaster that goes upside down, stops, and shakes violently over a roll-off bin, to collect any loose items that should not have been brought inside. Then sell them back outside the exit.
