Oakmont of Valencia held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday afternoon, with guests including city, county and state representatives to see the newly-constructed luxury senior living facility.

“The chamber (Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce) celebrated us,” said Margie Veis, Executive Director for Oakmont of Valencia.

State Senator Scott Wilk, Representatives for Congresswoman Katie Hill, Assemblymember Christy Smith, Assemblymember Tom Lackey, Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, Santa Clarita City Councilman Bill Miranda and former Assemblymember and current Santa Clarita Water Board Member, Dante Acosta also attended the event to get the first walk-through of the completed luxury senior facility.

While the official grand opening of Oakmont Valencia is set for Saturday, July 13, six residents are already housed in units at the living facility, according to Veis.

In the following 30 days, the facility is set to house 68 residents, Veis said. One of two of the community’s “Traditions” neighborhoods, housing residents with memory problems, is also set be opening to residents on Monday.
