On Monday, Aug. 13 at 8 a.m., Santa Clarita residents can send an email to [email protected] with their shipping address to receive the promotional code information. Emails received prior to 8 a.m. will not receive a promotional code and addresses will be verified to ensure the location is within city limits.

After sending an email, Ring will then provide the discounts to Santa Clarita residents after the promotional code is redeemed at checkout on the Ring website.

The rebate will cut the price of the video-recording doorbells by $100 for up to 500 Santa Clarita residents on a first-come, first-served basis, according to city officials.

“We are proud to live in a city that is recognized as being a safe place to live and raise a family,” said Santa Clarita Mayor Laurene Weste. “We understand that our residents want additional peace of mind knowing their homes are safe, and we are glad this discount on Ring technology can help make that happen.”

In June, the Santa Clarita City Council voted unanimously to approve the decision to offer rebates.

The “Ring Doorbell and Camera Rebate Program” is expected to aid the city with preventing residential burglaries, according to officials. The system provides a way to track and save videos to identify criminals and suspicious individuals.

The system has been shown to reduce home burglaries by 55 percent between July and December 2015 in the Wilshire Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, according to city documents.

Multiple cities around Southern California have already implemented the rebate program with Ring, Inc., including Rancho Palos Verdes and Temple City.
