“They’ll get a credit at the end (of escrow), and that could vary by the price of that house,” Silver said. “I sold a house to a firefighter that was $315,000, and the house closed and he got a credit back for a little less than $2,000. It was a great feeling; he was so appreciative.”

Silver was inspired to bring the Homes for Heroes program to the Santa Clarita Valley because of his own personal experience with the nurses who helped care for his premature twin daughters after they were born at less than three pounds each.

“I saw a miracle with nurses in the hospital and what they did for our beautiful, beautiful girls,” he recalled. “About six months ago, I was looking at my business, saying how can I change my business? How can I separate myself from 8,000 agents out there in Santa Clarita… I was going through some social media and I found (Homes for Heroes) there, and it rang like a chord in my heart.”

Since that day, Silver has given back thousands of dollars to Santa Clarita’s heroes through the program, including $3,037.50 to a local military family and $1,968.75 to a Kern County firefighter.

“There are a lot of people that are out there fighting for us every day, and if I can give a little bit back to our military and to all our other heroes out there,” he said, “it’s what I want to do; it’s my goal.”
