California Highway Patrol units responded to the scene of the collision, which blocked all northbound lanes for several hours, according to CHP officials.
The driver of the Honda was declared dead at the scene.
Traffic was diverted to the right shoulder while Los Angeles County Fire Department units doused the vehicle fire allowing CHP units and tow trucks to clear the debris. All lanes reopened by 10:34 a.m. Saturday morning, according to CHP officer Josh Greenguard.
CHP officials suspect that the Honda had been speeding before the crash, which may have factored into the collision.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released by the Coroner’s Office, as the victim’s next of kin will need to be notified before the information is made public.
