UPDATE: No Plane Crash Found After Search In Mountains Near Acton

A reported plane crash in Acton Friday morning has prompted a search from the air and ground by fire officials.

UPDATE: Los Angeles County Fire has concluded the search as of 1:15 p.m. Friday, but is going to continue to monitor the area.

Around 11:45 a.m. Friday, the Los Angeles County Fire Department received reports of an aircraft down near Santa Clara Truck Trail and Moody Canyon Truck trail, said Sky Carnell, an inspector with the LACoFD.

“We received reports of a private plane down,” Carnell said.

Initial reports stated that the aircraft is possibly on fire.

The fire department is in communication with Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) air traffic controllers, however, it is unknown if the plane was headed to LAX or leaving the airport, according to officials.

“We are receiving a lot of conflicting information at this time and are trying figure everything out,” Carnell said. “We have reports that the plane could be down eight to 10 miles south or north of the Agua Dulce Airport.”

Multiple helicopters that are on scene of the original location have reported that they have not located any airplane down, smoke or fire, according to officials.
