Have wasps around your house and need to get rid of them? Do you know what type of wasps you are dealing with? There are over 200 paper wasps around the word and only 22 that live in America.

Paper wasps have long slender legs that hang while they are flying and yellow markings according to Cardon Ellis from Unipest Pest Control. They are known for their beehive looking nests that they make which is how they get their name: paper wasps.

The paper wasps make their paper-mâché nests by their mixing their saliva with cellular debris and plant material. Their saliva is strong at making the nests which led scientists to synthesis the salvia to make waterproof coverings.

These are considered social wasps that survive through colonies and typically not aggressive to nearby movement from humans. They do produce an allergic reaction if you are allergic to stings if they are provoked.

To remove the nest the first thing you should so is put on a suit to avoid any stings from the paper wasps. After that you will need a spray that you can get for $19.99 or less. Of course, always be cautious when removing the nest.

Make sure to identify all wasp nests before proceeding.

Cardon Ellis says that most aerosol sprays spray up to 25-30 feet, but you will be losing all that product if you do it from that distance.

“Try to get up there in their face—trust your bee suit—and try to do this from close to point blank as close as you can.”

Keep in mind that no one should be around the area if you are spraying the area. The spray does work well but the wasps will still react if something is nearby and sting them.

After you spray the nest area leave the product on overnight instead off knocking it out so other wasps can take effect to the aerosol product. Many wasps come back to feed the young but once they are near the sprayed nest, then they will die.
