Candlelight Vigil To Be Held For Those In Santa Clarita Who Lost Their Lives To Fentanyl

A candlelight vigil remembering loved ones lost to Fentanyl will be held on Monday, March 13, 2023, at 7 p.m. at Real Life Church in Valencia.

“We lost over 30 Santa Clarita youth to Fentanyl over the past year,” said founder of Action Drug Rehab, Cary Quashen. “It’s time to let their deaths become a symbol to prevent future casualties.”

The vigil will feature thoughts shared by the families of 4 Santa Clarita youths who recently died from an overdose of Fentanyl.

Real Life Church is just one of many churches in Santa Clarita ready to assist in bringing awareness of this crisis to their congregation.

Rusty George is the lead Pastor at Real Life Church. “I see this as a night for our community to heal. Fentanyl overdose is a critical issue for Santa Clarita, and we want to be a church that actively participates in helping those suffering from addiction while walking with those affected by the death of a loved one.”

Fentanyl is deadly. It’s laced with many other drugs and pills. It’s critical to understand that any pill or drug that doesn’t come from a pharmacy has the potential to kill. If it’s come off the internet or sold through a dealer, odds are it contains Fentanyl.

Real Life Church is located at 23841 Newhall Ranch Road in Valencia, near the intersection of McBean Parkway. The public is invited to the Vigil, free of charge.

About Carl Goldman

Carl Goldman, along with his wife, Jeri repurchased KHTS AM-1220, Santa Clarita’s hometown station on October 24, 2003. They owned it from 1990-1998, and then sold it to Clear Channel Communication in 1998, buying it back from Clear Channel in 2003. Since then, they have rebuilt KHTS as a critical voice of the Valley. In 2015 the radio station moved to its new headquarters on Main Street in Old Town Newhall, in the original Newhall Hardware building. In 2018 an FM was added, 98.1, with its signal being simulcast with AM-1220. In January 2020, Carl and Jeri cruised on the Diamond Princess. Carl was one of the first Americans to come down with Covid-19. Months earlier he was impacted by Guillain Barre Syndrome as a result of a Shingles vaccine in September 2019. He is still in recovery from the vaccine.
