The Creative Years Infant Center and Preschool held their annual Art Night in person for the first time in two years.

The preschool held an “Art Night” event on Wednesday, March 8, to showcase artwork created by the children enrolled in the preschool program.

“After having our Art Night the past 2 years virtually, we are excited to offer this tradition in person again!” said Denise Bayliss, Director of the Preschool. “This year we celebrate 40 years of educating our families about art!”

The annual tradition is held every spring, and exhibits five unique pieces of art that each child has created. The event is an opportunity to bring families together and appreciate the importance of children’s art, according to Bayliss.

“I made a big pizza,” commented Mirei,3, on her clay sculpture. “I made a pizza with sticks, so it dried, but you can’t eat it.”

The preschool transforms into a “mini art museum” where the children proudly display their “masterpieces.” The event also provides parents the opportunity to learn about the process of art and recognize many art styles.

“That’s me,” said Oliva, 5, on her self-portrait.

“Purple, orange and green paint,” said Ryder, 4, on how he created his watercolor and rock salt art

Some of the art pieces included finger painting, self-portraits, photography, 3D art, clay sculptures and action painting.

“I painted a kitty rose head, a kitty body, whiskers and kitty ears.” said Parker, 4, on their painting. “I used lots of red paint.”

The Art Night event drew crowds of hundreds of excited family and friends, filling the hallways and classrooms for a chance to view pieces from young up-and-coming artists, according to school officials.

“This long-standing tradition at Creative Years is something we look forward to each year.” said Bayliss. “It’s always a night to remember!”
