At around 8 p.m. Saturday, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of a possible drunk driver near Soledad Canyon Road and Ruether Avenue in Canyon Country.

“A white Tesla in the Soledad/Ruether area was reported to be traveling on Soledad at a high rate of speed,” said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the station. “The Tesla, in switching lanes, collided with another vehicle’s bumper, but didn’t stop.”

The driver reportedly continued towards Railroad Avenue at a high rate of speed, according to Miller.

“The call was updated to deputies after it was learned that a victim had his white Tesla stolen from the Canyon High School area,” Miller said.

After the Tesla’s battery died on Tournament Drive and Golf View Drive, deputies proceeded to take the driver into custody at gunpoint, according to officials on scene.

“The driver, a male adult (in his) 20’s, was detained for vehicle theft investigation,” Miller said.

The suspect was arrested on one felony charge of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and one misdemeanor charge of hit and run, according to Miller.

The man was transported to and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail, where bail was set at $25,000, according to weekend arrest records.

  1. Wow! Really was he crying? I’m sure he will be out in a few months thanks to Gavin and no jail room.

  2. Tesla give you the option of putting a pin to start it. He should have used it.

  3. In his 20s! He’s crying because he knows what he did is wrong and I hope that young man learns from this and changes his ways! Everyone deserves second chances!!! No one is perfect! Pray he gets it together ?

  4. Don’t think he was crying, laughing because he’ll be out of jail in a few hours with no future jail time! Thanks to the Liberals who created & voted for Prop. 47(Gascon) & 57 and AB 109!! CA anarchy & ruthlessness!!

    • Yeah well same with rapist & murders they barley get jail time! I read and see so many stories & I can’t believe how messed up this world & corrupt the system is! They have it all backwards!!!

  5. A fossil fuel car would of been a better car to steal if you don’t want to get caught, but I’m sure this young man was concerned about saving the planet!

  6. This man is 20, not a teenager. Why is there no picture or name? Why do they show the arrested person’s face and name for some crimes and not others? This is GRAND theft auto. They shouldn’t be able to use that dumb law where if the theft is under $4000 there is no consequence to the third.

  7. Thanks Liberals for creating (Gascon) & voting for Prop. 47 & 57 and AB 109(Liberals)—-That creature will be out of jail by morning, to do it’s job, robbing/stealing 24/7—Stop voting Anarchy/socialism/communism behaving Liberals!!
