Four Santa Clarita High Schools In Hart District Named California Distinguished Schools

Four high schools in the William S. Hart Union High School District have been named 2021 California Distinguished Schools during a bi-annual event hosted by the California Department of Education(CDE).

Academy of the Canyons (AOC), Golden Valley, Hart and West Ranch were chosen by California State Superintendent Tony Thurmond to become 2021 California Distinguished Schools. The four high schools join Placerita, Rancho Pico and Rio Norte junior highs, which were named 2021 California Distinguished Schools on March 19.

“These additional high schools join the ranks of all 2021 California Distinguished Schools who are being recognized for this distinction because of their exceptional record to provide for all students and their commitment to data-driven efforts that prepare students for college and career,” Thurmond said in a statement Wednesday.

Eligible schools are awarded based on performance and progress on state indicators such as test scores, suspension rates, conditions and climate, according to CDE officials.

After a review of the data, CDE identified these additional Santa Clarita schools for this year’s honor.

“Students, staff and families should be justifiably proud of this outstanding recognition,” said Hart District Superintendent Mike Kuhlman. “It shows that our District continues to push to close achievement gaps and to provide educational opportunities that can make a difference in the lives of the students we serve.”

Sponsored by the CDE and presented by California Casualty, the Distinguished Schools Program recognizes elementary, middle or high schools every other year for their excellent work in either closing the achievement gap or achieving exceptional student performance, according to officials.

California Distinguished Schools are set to represent examples of not just “excellent” teaching, learning, and collaboration, but also successful school efforts such as professional development or positive behavior intervention.

  1. Hope they didn’t teach the demonic brainwashing “Critical Race(Lie) Theory!! Nowadays it’s hard to believe what one reads in the Liberal Biased media which is controlled by Big Media/Tech/Hollywood! Give me a generation of youth, and I’ll change the world…….. Vladimir Lenin

  2. The “Big Media/Tech/Hollywood” axis of evil, eh? Seems like biting the hand that feeds, complaining about the number one industry in one’s home town.

    • They don’t feed decent, hardworking taxpayers. They’re brainwashing, over paid deceitful Liberals spawned by the Unions! Watch how they work, what they really produce.

  3. Critical Race Theory makes racist who are raising little racists really upset. If the parents had this maybe there wouldn’t have been an insurrection and the need for the BLM movement. Home school your kids if you don’t like the curriculum.

  4. If you don’t like the curriculum that is being taught home school your kids. So sad that the stop the steal insurrectionists don’t want to have kids that can possibly do something about systemic racism. Have a good day

  5. FUB, the Tracy’s & Dave’s can’t comprehend, Mental/Emotional abnormalities need to be excused, they don’t have the capabilities of modern human thought.
