LA Kings To Donate Ice Rink Proceeds To Saugus Shooting Victims

All proceeds from the Los Angeles Kings Holiday Ice at Westfield Valencia Town Center on Friday are set to be donated to assist those affected by the Saugus High shooting, according to LA Kings officials.

The LA Kings Holiday Ice is a sponsorship to bring ice skating rinks to three locations across the greater Los Angeles area for the holidays, including  L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles, Westfield Topanga and Westfield Valencia.

All proceeds collected on Friday by the skating rink at Westfield Valencia Town Center are expected to go to the William S. Hart (WiSH) Education Foundation, according to Kings officials.

The rink at Westfield Valencia Town Center is scheduled to be open from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday.

Nick Nickson, a Kings Radio play-by-play announcer whose two sons attended Saugus High School, is scheduled to be in attendance Friday to meet Kings fans and sign autographs from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The funds donated to the WiSH Education Foundation are expected to be funneled specifically to Saugus High School to support their immediate grief counseling efforts, and to establish a wellness center and program at the school, according to Kings officials.

This is not the Kings’ first show of support for victims of school shootings, as in September they announced a three-year commitment to deliver the Know The Signs (KTS) programs to more than 65,000 students in middle and high schools in the Los Angeles region.
