Santa Clarita Ranked 7th Best Place To Be ‘Stuck At Home’ During Pandemic

Santa Clarita was ranked the seventh-best place to be “stuck at home” during the coronavirus partially due to the city ranking the safest large community in the country.

Out of 150 of the most populated cities throughout America, Santa Clarita was ranked the seventh-best to be stuck at home, according to LawnStarter.

“We crunched data from a variety of sources to come up with our ranking, combing through 29 metrics ranging from property crime rate and pedestrian fatalities to suicide rate and food insecurity,” LawnStarter officials said.

Out of the five main categories, Santa Clarita ranked first in community safety, 10th in health and wellness, 147th in quality of life, eighth in financial safety and 23rd in digital security, according to LawnStarter.

“Although the last few months have been tough for all of us, Santa Clarita remains one of the top places to live in the nation,” said Santa Clarita Mayor Cameron Smyth. “We have ensured our residents still have opportunities for activity and outdoor time, by keeping our parks and trails open throughout the Safer at Home Orders. Fresh air and exercise are vital to wellbeing.”

In order to determine how Santa Clarita ranked in these five different categories, LawnStarter looked at a range of statistics ranging from violent crime which include, murder, non-negligent manslaughter, rape, robbery and aggravated assault, according to officials.

Santa Clarita was the top-ranked city in Southern California with Irvine at No. 10.

LawnStarter also looked at several other statistics, which ranged from the health of the residents, homelessness and more.

  1. Compared to where? Compton and Watts? Are you kidding? The worst place!! Everyone complains about bikers, whose wearing masks, whose doing what? The most feisty Karen’s and Bobs in SCV..

    • I’ve got news for you, there’s another world outside of these comments and social media. It’s called the real world. This is only a fraction of the people and most that you hear from are mainly the Karen’s and the Bob’s as you put it.

  2. For now…

Can’t keep it safe with reduction of police and decreased funds to combat crime, provide fast response to 911 calls. SCV is declining like SFV. Thanks to our elected officials. They are an epic fail. #walkaway

  3. Please hire an editor to correct the punctuation in your stories.

  4. Quality of Life was 147, almost at the bottom.
Rather than brag about the good things, maybe the city council can address the short comings.

  5. Whether anyone wants to hear this or not, this city ranks high because it is run by conservative Republicans. They support law enforcement, churches, and the nuclear family.

You can’t say for dispute that sanctuary cities run by Democrats are at the bottom of the list, and getting worse every year! This includes LA City, San Francisco, Chicago, Minneapolis, Baltimore, Detroit, Seattle, Portland, and many more. Just remember everything the Libs touch turns to s%$t. Everything! Part of the reason is that some of the Liibs love receiving money from George Soros. See link below.

    • Amen brother. Liberals preach tolerance of others but are intolerant of communities like SCV who sacrificed labor and money to make a place to express their own views and raise their own children. To the left, it must be destroyed, turned “woke” in their image and then, as always, turned to junk as the producers leave.. I’m anxiously awaiting when the right realizes they ALSO have a right to exist without the left interference, just like big cities operate without the rights.

    • You could not be more right if you tried, Rufus. Such a breath of fresh air to see right-minded individuals like you and Corey.
One of the most unfortunate aspects of the mental disorder known as liberalism is that they’ll completely ruin a city or state and then flee the mess they themselves created and move to a well-run prosperous place like the SCV or Texas, and then vote for the exact same things that destroyed the place they just fled! It’s exasperating.

  6. Love being safe and healthy but find it really difficult to be proud when quality of life is ranked at the bottom.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
