In recent studies conducted by WalletHub, Santa Clarita was found to be a prominent city in credit card usage.
Ranking sixth overall out of 100 cities across the United States, Santa Clarita residents are found to be at the top of the charts when it comes to holding the highest number of credit cards.
To determine the cities with the highest number of credit cards, the study pulled the average number of cards owned and the average number of credit cards opened along with the increase from 2024 to 2025.
Their high position shows that Santa Clarita residents not only own a lot of cards that they are maintaining well, but that they are also opening new accounts consistently.
Compared to St. Louis, MO, and Garland, TX, which both ranked higher overall, Santa Clarita still leads in the rankings of credit cards owned. These numbers and strong rankings reflect a high level of access to credit, higher household incomes, and corresponding credit scores.
With these consistently high scores in Santa Clarita, it is no surprise that the surrounding cities would have similar results. Cities such as Irvine, Anaheim, and Chula Vista also received high rankings with some of the top numbers of credit cards owned.
This high ranking in this study shows Santa Clarita’s economic position not only locally but nationally. With many other Southern California cities leading in these areas, this highlights this region as one of the most active areas for credit card use.
