The Los Angeles Chapter of the LPGA Amateur Golf Association is scheduled to host the association’s national executive director and former LPGA Player Jane Geddes for a season kickoff event at the Sand Canyon Country Club, officials said Monday.
The kickoff event and membership drive is intended to introduce women to the association, and is set to feature games throughout the day, including an opportunity to compete with Geddes in a closest-to-the-pin contest.
“We are excited to host our association’s national executive director for our season kickoff event, and to host it at Sand Canyon Country Club,” said Los Angeles Chapter President Holly Schroeder, a Santa Clarita resident. “I’m especially excited about the chance to beat the pro.”
Players who manage to hit one shot closer to the pin on a Par 3 than Geddes will receive a special prize during the awards ceremony.
“LPGA Amateurs is about building a golf community for all women to learn to play, play better, have fun and make friends. Of course, there is a little bit of competition along the way,” said Geddes. “I look forward to getting out to the West Coast to visit with our current and new LPGA Amateur Golf Association members.”
The event is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 9 at the Sand Canyon Country Club.
Tickets are priced at $85 and include golf, carts, prizes and post-round appetizers.
Participation is open to both current members and guests. For more information, or to purchase tickets, visit the website here.
