Santa Clarita’s Dutch Bros Set To Open This Month

Beloved drive-thru coffee kiosk Dutch Bros Coffee is scheduled to open its Santa Clarita location in late May after months of construction.

Santa Clarita residents have been waiting over a year for Dutch Bros Coffee to officially open after the company was approved to open a new location in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Previously, residents had to travel all the way to the Lancaster location to experience Dutch Bros Coffee.

A Dutch Bros Coffee spokesperson released information about the project last September.

In March of this year, construction on the building in the shopping center between Soledad Canyon and Golden Valley Roads began.

A month later, in late April, the exterior of the Dutch Bros building appeared to be complete, with the interior still barren.

Finally, in May, the building was finished right after the new McDonald’s next door, which held its grand opening on May 17th.

A board outside the completed Dutch Bros building read, “Hi! We open on May 27th! We will see you soon!”

Dutch Bros started as a pushcart by railroad tracks in downtown Grants Pass, Oregon, in 1992 by Dane and Travis Boersma. In 2000, Dutch Bros Coffee became a franchise, having its first location in Oregon. They then began expanding their locations throughout the northwest, now including Santa Clarita.

Dutch Bros serves a wide variety of drinks, including coffee, iced teas, energy drinks, smoothies, shakes, and sodas, as well as a snack menu.

The new Santa Clarita Dutch Bros is located at 26655 Valley Center Drive.

  1. A Dutch Brothers right on top of a McDonald’s. Yep makes perfect sense to me.

  2. Even more so since McDonald’s is the company that owns the land that the Dutch Bros. sits on.

I think this was dumb of corporate McDonald’s to offer the parcel to Dutch Bros. This just kills the new McDonald’s and the owner operators, Jay and Shelly Schutz’s hot and cold coffee business.

But as many know, McDonald’s is a real estate company that sells hamburgers – hence the high MCD share price. That’s why they have never sold their location at Hamburger Hill – it’s a gold mine and the prime real estate that site sits on is worth millions!

However, Dutch Bros. is a force to be reckoned with.

Past practice of Dutch Bros. is to award a franchise to employees who worked their way up to managing one of the Dutch Bros. corporate stores – I wonder if that’s the case with this new Santa Clarita location.

  3. That looks like a really awkward spot to get into and out of; I only use the Valley Center Drive to access Soledad Cyn when I come across the valley on Golden Valley. If this starts causing congestion on an already congested road, I don’t think I will be using it much, if at all.
