Triumph Foundation Organizes Skiing Trip For Participants With Disabilities

The Triumph Foundation, a Santa Clarita non-profit, took 25 individuals with mobility impairments to Big Bear Mountain Ski Resort this winter to experience adaptive snow skiing with the United States Adaptive Recreation Center.

In January and February, the United States Adaptive Recreation Center hosted 25 participants with mobility impairments and allowed them to experience adaptive snow skiing, thanks to the Triumph Foundation in Santa Clarita.

“My first time sit-skiing was thrilling, I didn’t think I would ever ski again,” said Larry Dunn, a C-4 quadriplegic who got the opportunity to ski the halfpipe at the event. “A big thank you to Triumph for giving me this opportunity. What a great day!”

Highlights of the excursion include bringing a dozen first-time participants to try skiing, including three children under the age of nine.

“We are grateful to the wonderful staff and volunteers at United States Adaptive Recreation Center,” said Doug Harker of the Triumph Foundation. “They have an amazing program and we love partnering with them every year.”
