44 new cases of coronavirus had been confirmed in the Santa Clarita Valley as of Thursday, with a cumulative total of over 880 COVID-19 cases confirmed across the Santa Clarita Valley since testing began in March.
As of Thursday afternoon, a total of 881 cumulative cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the Santa Clarita Valley. These include:
- 549 in the City of Santa Clarita*
- 253 in Castaic*
- 27 in Stevenson Ranch
- 30 in the unincorporated areas of Canyon Country
- Four in the unincorporated areas of Saugus
- 12 in the unincorporated areas of Val Verde
- Six in the unincorporated areas of Valencia
Included in the Castaic and Santa Clarita numbers are inmates at the Pitchess Detention Center, which were previously listed as Val Verde, according to public health officials.
Los Angeles Sheriff Alex Villanueva is alleging a group of inmates at Pitchess are intentionally spreading coronavirus.

No new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the unincorporated areas of Newhall as of Wednesday afternoon.
Additionally, nine cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in nearby Acton, as well as three in nearby Agua Dulce. These numbers have remained largely stable over the last several weeks.
As of Wednesday, Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital has administered 1,106 tests for COVID-19, 182 of which have returned positive, while 1,007 have come back negative and 28 remain pending, according to Patrick Moody, spokesperson for the hospital.
While 12 COVID-19 patients are currently in the hospital as of Wednesday, a total of 62 have recovered and been discharged, Moody added.
The patients are being treated on a designated floor of the newly-built patient tower, with each patient receiving the correct level of care without using beds in the Intensive Care Unit, according to the hospital.

An additional 1,264 COVID-19 cases were reported across Los Angeles County Wednesday. The County cumulative total of COVID-19 cases now stands at 34,428 according to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LADPH) Director Dr. Barbara Ferrer.
Public health officials are not releasing death or recovery numbers by city, according to the department.
Due to testing shortages, these numbers are only the confirmed cases, which officials say could be much lower than the actual number of coronavirus cases in Santa Clarita.
A Santa Clarita testing center opened on April 8 at the College of the Canyons Valencia campus.
This site is one of several that are up and running around the county, and the first in the Santa Clarita Valley.
Testing is set to run from 7 a.m. to approximately 5 p.m., seven days per week, according to the college.
The Santa Clarita coronavirus testing site is expected to continue at least until June, according to County officials.
Residents are encouraged to stay at home, according to the county public health order.

Ed. Note: The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has included the cases for Pitchess Detention Center and the North County Correctional Facility in the count for both the City of Santa Clarita and Castaic. KHTS is working on getting the exact numbers for those two facilities, and will update the above numbers to reflect that once the information is available.

KHTS Radio Santa Clarita Radio – Santa Clarita News
Based on what KHTS is stating in their disclaimer, the numbers for the City of Santa Clarita should be in the low 400’s, and Castaic should be about 75? Right?
Since the Department of Health initially screwed up the numbers and mixed them with Val Verde, then supposedly moved the prisoners over to the Castaic column…who in the hell knows what the numbers really exactly are.
So, instead of Val Verde being the “leper” colony, it’s fallen on Castaic – and as of today, the city of Santa Clarita as well who are now both taking the dump for the Pitchess prisoners. Why are the Pitchess prisoners being double counted?
What a mess. Someone’s diaper at the county health department is really dirty!

How many coronavirus patients from Santa Clarita have been send to the hospital in kaiser panorama city and holy Cross hospital???
Where do you think the people who work at the jail live? It IS a Castaic outbreak. They bring it home with them, they shop at our community stores, they go to our post office, they walk the streets. It’s in our community.
Lauri, If you check the LA County Dept. of Health site, you will find that Castaic has a total of 253 cases. Of those cases, Pitchess has 41 total – 14 staff, 27 inmates, and North County Correctional has 202 – 4 staff and 198 inmates. So, Castaic residents (minus inmates) make up only 10 of the positive cases reported in Castaic.

Everyone should watch the hearing with dr bright it’s pretty informative. It’s like Six hours long but everyone should just put politics aside and listen to all the questions and answers.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JtHqK2TjAgo
How many cases remain? That’s all I want to know. Are we going up or we giving some control over this monster? Please give us a useful information, we’re not in a contest to see how many cases we had!
The amount of people “infected” will always go up as the testing becomes widespread. So that number is not as important as the number of deaths. That number can’t be adjusted or double counted or altered (allegedly). If we looked at the amount of citizens in Santa Clarita and the number who have passed away, you will realize that the number is statistically very, very small.
Does the case count really matter anymore? The city wants to open up and so do a vast amount of residents. Me personally, I am for holding out a little longer. Why be locked down for three months just to throw it away for a few more weeks? But whatever, if that is what the people want so be it. As the old saying goes, “if you can’t beat em join em” So screw it, let’s just go for it and see what the eff happens. We can make it an experiment for when the next wave comes.
Yep watch that court hearing I posted, its long but pretty informative about how CDC failed the President and us from the start
Did you see the President yesterday in Pennsylvania with no mask Will…..and the reason why??
THIS IS AMERICA!
Checkmate.
We all know he is not the sharpest tool in the shed but he is listening to our failure fauci’s misleading statement about masks. out of our choices I think he is the better choice for President but we need new CDC experts. Masks are required out here so your argument is void.
There’s 10 county’s in Southern California and ONLY in 1 of them are masks required. Still lots of work for you to do Will….
Watch the video learn something. it’s a court hearing so long and boring but very informative
That is because trump is not a leader. Leaders lead by example. He is just a vain reality show host who doesn’t want to appear weak. It’s all about appearances since there is no substance.
If we’re going to talk #s how about giving us all the #s
Total deaths
Total hospitalizations
Current Hospitalizations
Total healed
Total today currently +
All these totals by city
That way we can make educated decisions for us and our families.
We’re done with Just stay at home without real statistics that reflect
