California To Require Proof Of COVID-19 Vaccination For State Workers

The Monday decision requires all California workers and workers in health care and high-risk congregate settings to either show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or be tested at least once per week, and encourage all local government and other employers to adopt a similar protocol.

The new rule is set to take effect next month, officials announced Monday. There are at least 238,000 state employees, according to the California controller’s office.

The new policy for state workers is scheduled to take effect Monday, August 2, with testing phased in over the next few weeks, according to state officials.

The new policy for health care workers and congregate facilities is scheduled to take effect on Monday, August 9, and health care facilities are scheduled to have until Monday, August 23 to come into full compliance.

“We are now dealing with a pandemic of the unvaccinated, and it’s going to take renewed efforts to protect Californians from the dangerous Delta variant,” said Governor Gavin Newsom on Monday. “As the state’s largest employer, we are leading by example and requiring all state and health care workers to show proof of vaccination or be tested regularly, and we are encouraging local governments and businesses to do the same. Vaccines are safe – they protect our family, those who truly can’t get vaccinated, our children and our economy. Vaccines are the way we end this pandemic.”

Currently, about 62 percent of all eligible Californians are fully vaccinated, and the state has struggled to make significant progress in recent weeks.

Despite California leading the nation in vaccinations, with more than 44 million doses administered and 75 percent of the eligible population having received at least one dose, the state is seeing increasing numbers of people who refused to get the vaccine being admitted to the ICU and dying, often due to the Delta variant, according to state officials.

  • As of last week, California’s statewide case rate more than quadrupled from a low in May of 1.9 cases/100,000/day to at least 9.5 cases/100,000.
  • Testing positivity was at a low of 0.7 percent in June, now it has risen to 5.2 percent.
  • Hospitalizations were at a low in June of under 900, and are now approaching 3,000.
  • The vast majority of new cases are among the unvaccinated, with 600 percent higher case rates among the unvaccinated than for those who are vaccinated.

In the Santa Clarita Valley, Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital reported 22 COVID-19 patients in the hospital as of Monday, according to spokesperson Patrick Moody.

“As we have stated before, the most effective way to prevent a stay in the hospital for COVID-19 is to get vaccinated,” Moody said.

  1. Are we off the “My body, My choice” bandwagon?! ? I’m trying to keep up with the constant flip flopping.

    • Veronica, good point,
Flash Back, CDC guidance #1054 and counting.

A CDC study in October 2020, (remember that’s when they were recommending no trick or treating) indicated that Americans were “adhering” to mask mandates, but that it didn’t “appear” to have any effect of slowing or stopping the spread of COVID.

And here we are, almost a year later,
I’m sure their newest flip flop will have a different affect with the current Delta version.

  2. BOLDFACE LIES. It gets uglier folks, the propaganda has no end! ” The pandemic of the unvaccinated” Bill Gates hasn’t made enough off his long awaited investments. FIRST: it’s NOT a Vaccine! The shot Hijacks your body’s MRNA to produce deadly spike proteins, which you then shed to others and make them sick. This is now a pandemic of the VACCINATED!!! WAKE UP FOLKS!!! I WILL NOT BE THE GOVERNMENT’S LAB RAT!

  3. SO REALLY?? America is just going to lie down for this?

  4. So they’re requiring weekly testing even though the FDA just recalled the covid tests being used because they were found to he inaccurate??? And the creator of the covid test even said it does not differentiate between influenza and covid (of course interview was banned on YouTube…)…

  5. Wow so even the folks who have had Covid and have natural immunity now would be required to get a vaccine? 🙁

  6. Up yours, Newsom.
SHOW US the scientific data that proves that the unvaccinated are the spreaders.
    SHOW. ME!

    • The unvaccinated are getting sick. It is contagious.

Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, claimed Tuesday that COVID-19 is “just a few mutations” away from rendering COVID vaccines completely ineffective.

She went on to say “Vaccinated people need to mask because of hypothetical future mutations” she went on to say, indeed, the “vaccinated” can infect the vaccinated, yet she said most cases have been caused by unvaccinated people.

So, lets recap, according to the CDC claims,
Were just a few mutations away from rendering COVID vaccines completely ineffective.
        Vaccinated can infect the vaccinated,
        Unvaccinated people cause most cases,

All this coming from the Experts,
We will NEVER be covid free, never.

  7. Great another way to keep people home & depending on the government

  8. Another way for the government to control how we live! People need to take a stand!

  9. Do we see it now? Do we finally see it for what it is? The Alinsky Play is Clear – California State Joins New York City and Veterans Administration in Mandating The Jab for Employees, Simultaneous to CDC Changing COVID Test
It’s all a strategic Alinsky move once you connect the dots.
Earlier today New York City Mayor De Blasio announced mandated Jabs for all 340,000 city employees.
Hours later Joe Biden announced mandatory Jabs for all 115,000 front-line employees of The Veterans Affairs department.
Immediately thereafter, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced all state employees and healthcare providers will be forced to get the Jab. None of these events are disconnected.
Keep in mind just a few days ago the Federal CDC announced all U.S. healthcare providers must switch to new rapid response tests for COVID-19. The reasoning? The current PCR test does not differentiate between COVID and the flu. The new tests will distinguish between the flu virus and the COVID virus.
Can you see the strategic move now?
The new CDC approved rapid response test will cull the flu cases from false positives; that approach will automatically drop the number of new COVID cases identified. The Biden regime will then say the drop in new COVID cases is because of the forced vaccinations in major populations (VA, NYC and CA). As a result, everyone must get The Clot Shot because the added vaccinations are lowering the COVID cases, and the statistics will prove it.
    Can you see it now?
This false assertion, driven by organized manipulation of events, will then increase pressure on the remaining public to get The Jab.
The drop in COVID positive cases will create the momentum for additional COVID vaccination mandates.
If we thought the pressure to get the Clot Shot is bad now, we haven’t seen anything yet. It is going to get ugly, with threats of federal reimbursement dollars (medicare, medicaid, food and housing) withheld from states as leverage against Red State governors who do not mandate vaccinations. Vaccination passports are a guarantee in this approach; possibly even federally mandated in order to “safely vote” in the 2022 mid-term election; and the unvaccinated fear will guarantee mail-in ballots again.
Services will be determined by Vax status, and as we have seen in the election reform and voting integrity debate – corporate America will line-up to support mandatory vaccinations for retail entry or use of their products (shopping, restaurants, etc.).
On a federal level – just like the VA beta-test rolled out today, a vaccination status will be weaponized by federal regulatory agencies like OSHA, Dept of Labor, USDA, HHS, HUD, Dept of Agriculture, Dept of Education, etc.
All of this will be politically pressurized for a Jabbed -vs- Non Jabbed mid term election in 2022.
    That’s the Alinsky play…
Right now they are probing for reaction…
That’s exactly what this looks like.

    • ? we saw the numbers drop months ago when the vaccine rolled out, not because of the vaccine but because every testing site was converted to a vaccine site. Anyone with knowledge of this can figure out, reduced testing = reduced numbers. It’s very much real and happening and so many people are clueless.

  10. If I remember right he was hosting parties while breaking his own mandatory lockdowns when covid first hit. the rest of the country isn’t following suit, they are packing up and getting out of dodge. He’s done a great job continuing to destroy California.

  11. If not already doing so, employers should impose mask requirements on visitors, customers, vendors and contractors, and follow the current state masking and respirator guidance.
