Station deputies were patrolling the area surrounding the 24000 block of Golden Oak Lane in Canyon Country around 9 a.m., when deputies observed four people getting into a rental car that was reported stolen to the Inglewood Police Department’s area.

The car was rented fraudulently, according to station officials.

Deputies were investigating the location as part of an identity theft ring, according to Lt. Robert Hahnlein of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

As deputies tried to initiate a traffic stop, the suspects took off on Sand Canyon Road, reaching speeds around 90 mph within a few seconds.

Deputies quickly terminated the pursuit due to concerns about public safety. However, the car was found by deputies abandoned within minutes, near the intersection of Sand Canyon Road and Lost Canyon Road.

Deputies found two men and two women matching the suspects’ descriptions nearby the stolen car.

Deputies took the suspects into custody, but Sheriff’s Station officials did not release their identities pending a further investigation.
