Abducted Toddler Located In Castaic, Mother Arrested

A 1-year-old child was found safe in Castaic Monday after being abducted by their mother in Sacramento.

Around 5:30  a.m. Monday, the Sacramento Police Department notified the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Bakersfield Communications Center (BCC), they were tracking, via cell phone ping, a parental child abduction suspect, said Officer Josh Greengard, spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office.

“The suspect and suspect vehicle information was broadcast to CHP Buttonwillow, Fort Tejon and Newhall units,” Greengard said.

Around 7:30 a.m., a CHP Newhall officer located the suspect vehicle on the southbound 5 Freeway at Templin Highway, according to Greengard.

“Additional Newhall units responded to assist, and an enforcement stop was initiated,” Greengard said. “The suspect vehicle exited southbound I-5 at Lake Hughes and came to a stop on The Old Road.”

SHANEKA Williams, 30, from Sacramento, was taken into custody, according to Greengard.

Her 1-year-old child was located in the vehicle.

“The Los Angeles County Fire Department was requested as a precaution, although the child appeared unharmed and in good physical condition,” Greengard said.

Williams was transported to the Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital for medical evaluation and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail.

Child Protective Services was notified and took custody of the child.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
