Alleged Catalytic Converter Theft Suspect Arrested After Illegally Parking In Stevenson Ranch

A catalytic converter theft suspect was arrested Thursday evening after deputies noticed that he had allegedly parked illegally in Stevenson Ranch.

Around 11:15 p.m. Thursday, deputies patrolling the 24800 block of Pico Canyon Road in Stevenson Ranch reportedly observed a vehicle illegally parked, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Deputies contacted the occupants of the vehicle and learned the male driver was on active probation and had an outstanding warrant to his name,” Arriaga said.

Deputies detained the driver and his passenger pending further investigation, according to officials.

“During a search of the vehicle, they recovered drug paraphernalia, as well as a sawed-off catalytic converter believed to be stolen,” Arriaga said.

The driver, Charles Chiaramonte, 27, from Winnetka, was arrested for felony grand theft and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor, according to Arriaga.

The passenger, Megan Harmell, 18, from Orick, California, was arrested for misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, Arriaga added.

Both suspects were arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s jail with Chiaramonte’s bail set at $20,000 and Harmell’s bail set at $0, according to arrest records.

  1. Another good get. Keep cleaning up the streets despite the turnstile of criminals. You have far more support in this community than you think. Those that don’t want this to be the SFV. We need at least 1 safe community in LA County.

  2. Glad Chiramonte from Winnetka(SFV) was caught! Wonder if he’s part of the Hispanic and/or Armenian Mafia Gang?!

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
