A Saugus man was arrested for attempted murder Thursday, after he allegedly “violently” assaulted a person with a knife New Year’s Day.
In the early morning hours of New Year’s Day, deputies responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon call in the parking lot of a restaurant in the 26800 block of Bouquet Canyon Road in Saugus, said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“Upon arrival, (deputies) learned that an adult male had violently assaulted another man with a knife before fleeing the scene,” Miller said. “Detectives immediately began investigating the case and worked diligently to identify the suspect.”
Within a week, the suspect was positively identified.
With the assistance of the Crime Impact Team, Brandon Williams, 37, from Saugus, was located near Urbandale Avenue and Bouquet Canyon Road and was taken into custody Thursday.
Williams was arrested on charges of attempted murder, mayhem, assault with a deadly weapon and criminal threats, according to Miller.
He was booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail with bail set at $1 million.
“Santa Clarita will remain a safe place for families, and we will act swiftly to protect our community,” Miller said.
