A Bakersfield man was arrested for identity theft Wednesday after allegedly being in a verbal argument on the 5 Freeway north of Castaic.
Around 2 a.m. Wednesday officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area Office received reports of two individuals in a verbal argument on the northbound 5 Freeway near Templin Highway, just north of Castaic, said Officer Josh Greengard, spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office.
When CHP officers arrived, they searched one of the individuals involved in the verbal argument and located miscellaneous credit cards, checkbooks and ID cards that did not belong to the man, Greengard said.
Isaac Lopez, 34, from Bakersfield was arrested for felony identity theft, according to Greengard.
Lopez was transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail with bail set at $50,000, according to arrest logs.
