Sean Matthias Miller, 48, of Canyon Country, was sentenced to 11 years in state prison for the murder as part of a negotiated plea deal.

Miller pleaded no contest in May to voluntary manslaughter in the death of his father, Jack Miller, 74.

Deputies initially responded the initial call of a family disturbance inside a home in the 14800 block of Narcissus Crest in Canyon Country at 6:50 p.m., according to Sheriff’s Department officials.

The victim, Jack Miller, was found dead by sheriff’s deputies responding to calls of a family dispute on June 15, 2015, the prosecutor said.

Sean Miller picked up a bat and hit his father and then kicked him, according to a statement from the case’s prosecutor, Carmelia Mejia.

The case was investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
