Newhall Robbery Suspect Pleads No Contest, Sentenced To Two Years In Prison

A Newhall robbery suspect pled no contest Tuesday for a hold-up of a massage parlor in June, officials said.

Louie Gonzalez, 22, of Santa Clarita, was sentenced to two years in state prison for one count of second-degree robbery, according to Ricardo Santiago, spokesperson for the Los Angles County District Attorney’s Office.

On June 27, deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to Red Lantern Massage located on the 24000 block of Railroad Avenue, said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the station.

“During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that after the suspect received a massage, he was attempting to make payment but then lifted his shirt, revealing the butt of a handgun, and robbed the business,” Miller said at the time of the incident.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials later released an image of the suspect and asked the public to help locate him.

Within hours of the social media post being published, tips “started rolling in,” Miller said.

COBRA detectives investigated all tips received, which led to the successful identification of the suspect, according to officials.

Gonzalez is now expected to serve a two-year sentence.
