A Saugus man returned to court Wednesday and pleaded not guilty in connection with a New Year’s Day stabbing.
In the early morning of Jan. 1, deputies responded to a stabbing in the parking lot of a restaurant in the 26800 block of Bouquet Canyon Road in Saugus, said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, in a previous KHTS article.
Brandon Williams, 37, from Saugus, was charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated mayhem and criminal threats, all felonies, in addition to enhancements, according to court documents.
During a court hearing Wednesday, Williams pled not guilty to all four counts, according to Pamela Johnson, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
It is alleged that Williams assaulted two individuals with a knife and verbally threatened one of the victims, according to court documents.
In addition to the two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, Williams was also charged with a felony count of aggravated mayhem.
According to court documents, Williams unlawfully and under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the physical and psychological well-being of another, intentionally caused permanent disability and disfigurement and deprivation of a limb, organ, and body member.
He was also charged with one count of making criminal threats against one of the victims he allegedly assaulted.
“It is further alleged that the threatened crime was so unequivocal, unconditional, immediate, and specific as to convey a gravity of purpose and an immediate prospect of execution,” the court document read. “It is further alleged that (the victim) was reasonably in sustained fear for their safety and the safety of their immediate family.”
If convicted, Williams faces life in prison with parole, according to Ricardo Santiago, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Williams’ is due back in court on March 5 for a preliminary hearing.

Seems like the man who’s ear was cut got into the middle of something that was none of his business, thus putting Williams in fear for his life seeing that now in was 2 against one.
Let me get this straight, 1 man is in verbal altercation with another man, and then another man jumps in and then the bartender comes out with a bat. Now we have 3 on 1 but he should not have done anything, maybe in Comifornia that will fly but in other states they are lucky they were not shot in self defense.
1 on 1 altercation and than a 2nd man jumps in and than a bartender with a bat comes out, now it is 3 on 1. But only one person got arrested because someone’s feelings were hurt, only in Comifornia. Do this in real states it is called Self Defense
