Vandalism charges for Black Lives Matter activists for painting “BLM” on a Valencia street have not been filed pending the completion of a program.
The case for Quynn Lubs, 18, Saugus, was set for an office hearing in the Prefiling Disposition Program, according to Ricardo Santiago, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
“That means a criminal case is not being filed pending the successful completion of an office hearing, restitution and community service,” Santiago said. “Lubs has appeared and accepted this course of action.”
The second teen activist arrested, Kori Tamondong, of Canyon Country, appears in court on Sept. 30 and is expected to be presented the same program, according to the District Attorney’s office.
A third person was charged in connection with the case but is under the age of 18 and their identity is unable to be released, according to Sheriff’s officials.
On June 19, deputies responded to a report of vandalism on the 23000 block of Cinema Drive, according to Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Witnesses reported several people using spray paint in the street and called the Sheriff’s Department, according to Miller.
Upon deputies’ arrival to the location, deputies observed paint on the street and individuals with white paint residue on the palms of their hands. Deputies detained around half a dozen individuals at the scene, according to Miller.
The cost to remove the lettering from the street is estimated to be just over $2,300, according to Carrie Lujan, spokesperson for the City of Santa Clarita.
“Due to the size of the vandalism, lane closures and traffic control had to be implemented for the safe clean up,” Lujan said. “In addition, a vactor truck had to be used to suck up the water which was used for cleaning to ensure none of the paint was washed into the storm drains and then into the Santa Clara River, which would have resulted in a stormwater violation.”
Local activists dispute the claim that spray paint was used, saying it was non-toxic washable paint, according to a post in the GoFundMe to support fees associated with the case.
“On Juneteenth, several local Santa Clarita BLM youth activists participated in an art protest,” the post reads. “Before they could finish, local L.A. County Sheriff’s deputies arrived, confiscated the washable paint and took the kids’ information.”

Ridiculous.
There need to be punishments for illegal activity . If we start letting seemingly minor crimes slide what next robbery then murder. Law & order make for a safer life.
The Liberals have already made worse crimes less/downgraded from felonies to misdemeanors, etc. and are out of jail within hours!(and this has been happening before the Wuhan, China virus, so they can’t BS us with that!). Thanks Liberals(George Gascon) for Prop. 47 & 57 & AB 109! And Gascon(from Frisco) wants to be LA DA—re-vote Lacy!
This is ridiculous! These young people will be burning down cities next. Bust them now so they will learn a lesson. Those on the left are destroying our country!
