Deputies Investigate Reports Of Person With A Gun In Canyon Country, No Evidence Of Crime

Deputies investigated a call for a person who was possibly in possession of a gun in Canyon Country Wednesday afternoon, only to find no evidence of a crime, officials said.

Around 12:40 p.m. Wednesday, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station received reports of a possible person with a gun on the 19000 block of Wellhaven Street in Canyon Country, according to officials.

“They are responding and investigating what they have,” said Lt. Jim Royal with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station around 1:15 p.m.

After an investigation, deputies determined that there was a person with a gun near the location; however, no crime was committed, according to officials.

“He did not brandish a firearm,” said Sgt. Dan Peacock with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

As of 1:30 p.m., deputies are still investigating if this person is connected with a “possible shots fired” call from Tuesday evening in the vicinity of the area, Peacock said.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
