A residential burglary occurred in Canyon Country on May Way at approximately 5:30 p.m. Friday, leading to an almost five-hour containment in the area, according to Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

An elderly couple arrived home to find two suspects inside their residence. When the couple notified the authorities, the suspects fled on foot from the location, according to Miller.

“Responding deputies set up a containment in the area in hopes of finding them. Unfortunately, they were unable to locate the alleged perpetrators, and the containment was lifted at 10:15 p.m.,” Miller said.

Detectives would like to hear from anyone who has any information about the incident or suspects. Some residents reportedly had brief contact with the suspects as they tried to escape through their backyards, according to Sheriff’s officials.

“If you saw something, talked to the suspects, we want to hear from you,” Miller said. “Also, if you have surveillance camera footage that possibly captured the suspects that night, we would love to take a look at it.”

Officials with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station are actively investigating the incident and want to catch these two suspects so that they don’t victimize anybody else, Miller added.

The suspects are described as two males, approximately 18-25 years old, with one wearing dark clothing and the other wearing “white or light grey clothing,” according to Sheriff’s officials.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station COBRA detectives at (661) 799-2318.

  1. I love the suspects descriptions. They just described every 18 – 25 year old male in California. The only error was stating they were male. We are a gender neutral state it should have said persons. That said, all 18 – 25 year old persons are now burglary suspects.

  2. You don’t get sarcasm do you?

  3. Wow! There were 2 young men walking around my building a couple of days ago and they seemed particularly interested in the emergency exits. It got my attention and I was suspicious. . I’m sorry I got sidetracked and forgot about it until now so I didn’t report it to management. :/
