Jeremy Haggerty coached basketball at at least three high schools in the William S. Hart School District, according to the Valencia High School Basketball website.

In August, officials with the Los Angeles County Special Victims Unit confirmed that they were investigating a former basketball coach from Trinity Classical Academy.

In an interview with KHTS at the time, Wally Caddow, managing director at Trinity Classical Academy, stated the incident occurred during a private transaction — not on school grounds while the coach was still acting varsity basketball coach.

“This was an incident that involved a former student and a basketball coach who also owned a private business,” Caddow said. “This incident or incidents happened with that private business.”

Caddow confirmed that the individual that has been accused of the inappropriate conduct was the varsity boys basketball coach, but that he had been fired by Trinity Classical Academy in 2016 for unrelated circumstances.

“Over the course of the investigation, seven additional victims were identified and interviewed by detectives,” reads a statement distributed by the LASD Special Victims Bureau Thursday. “All of the victims were coached by the suspect during his employment as a basketball coach at several high schools in the Santa Clarita Valley.”

Officials say that the incidents allegedly occurred over a period of several years, dating back to 2008.

“As a result of the investigation, the suspect, Jeremy Haggerty, was arrested during the morning hours of Thursday, September 13, 2018,” the statement read.

Haggerty originally played basketball for Canyon High School until his graduation in 2002. He was inducted into the Canyon High School Boys Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009.

He continued to play basketball at Eastern Arizona Junior College before accepting a scholarship to play basketball at The Master’s University (then The Master’s College). Haggerty also played for two professional tour teams in Taiwan and Italy.

He is currently in the custody of the Sheriff’s Department with bail set at $300,000.
