UPDATE: A Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) pursuit of a stolen vehicle through the Santa Clarita Valley ended in a violent fatal crash Wednesday afternoon.

On Wednesday afternoon, LAPD officers from the San Fernando Valley were in pursuit of a stolen vehicle that came through the Santa Clarita Valley, said Officer Miller, a spokesperson for the L.A. Police Department.

The chase exited the 14 Freeway and traveled through SCV surface streets before heading north on the 5 Freeway from Lake Hughes Road.

The suspect turned around at Frazier Park before travelling south again on the 5 Freeway, before ending the pursuit in a violent crash at the transfer to Highway 138.

The driver did not survive the crash. Their identity is not available pending notification of next of kin.
