Based on the evidence collected so far, Detective Q. Rodriguez is looking into the possibility the victim, who has not yet been identified by medical examiners, was killed due to a gang affiliation.
The shooting took place Monday night, near Dockweiler Drive and Valle Del Oro, around 7:50 p.m.
The suspect walked up to the victim and fired multiple rounds, striking the victim several times. The victim was found by deputies in a garage at the 21300 block of Valle Del Oro, bleeding profusely, and medical personnel were called to the scene. Fire officials arrived less than 10 minutes later, shortly after 8 p.m.
The victim later died from his wounds at the hospital.
Deputies searched the area for hours, and even returned to the area around 9 a.m. this morning, after a report of a man with a gun in the area.
“It appeared to be a targeted gang-to-gang shooting,” Rodriguez said, noting this specific crime did not appear to be random in nature.
“(The victim) was a specific target,” he said. “We’re working some information, and we encourage anybody who might know something to please call (Sheriff’s Homicide).”
