Around 1 p.m. Sunday, deputies responded to the 31900 block of Castaic road in Castaic regarding a “person acting suspicious” call for service, according to Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“It was reported the suspect threatened the victim while displaying a knife to him,” Arriaga said.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies observed a male matching the suspect description and recognized him as a suspect listed for another incident on Tuesday, Oct. 12 in which the man allegedly threatened a senior citizen with a machete during a verbal argument on the same block of Castaic Road, according to Arriaga.

On Halloween, deputies saw the male suspect in the riverbed with a large machete in hand.  Deputies made commands and the suspect refused to comply, initiating a brief foot pursuit.  Deputies were able to detain the male a short period later without further incident.
