A man was arrested for reckless driving late Thursday night after he allegedly was caught driving over 100 mph through city streets.

Around 11:30 p.m. Thursday, a California Highway Patrol, (CHP) Newhall Area officer spotted a 2012 BMW 328i driving recklessly on McBean Parkway near Newhall Ranch Road in Valencia,  said Officer Josh Greengard, spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office.

The driver was traveling at speeds in excess of 100 mph while weaving in and out of lanes in a reckless manner and failed to stop at a solid red light, Greengard said.

The CHP officer initiated an enforcement stop and arrested Matthew Patino, 20, from Valencia for misdemeanor reckless driving, Greengard said.

His BMW was towed from the scene and he was booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail with bail set at $0, according to arrest records.
