A wanted man was arrested after he called out to passing deputies patrolling Santa Clarita streets Monday morning.

Around 2:40 a.m. Monday, deputies were patrolling when a male adult started to talk in the direction of the deputies, said Deputy Kabrina Borbon, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“The deputies went to contact the male adult,” Borbon said. “Deputies learned the male adult had two outstanding warrants for his arrest.”

During a search of the suspect, deputies located a concealed knife in his possession.

Javier Lopez, 34, a transient of Canyon Country, was arrested for carrying a dirk or dagger, a felony and for his warrants, according to officials.

Lopez was booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and remains in custody as of Wednesday, according to Borbon.
