A Palmdale man was arrested Friday evening and charged with a felony after receiving his fourth DUI, officials said.

Around 7:30 p.m. Friday, a motorist noticed a person who was showing signs of driving under the influence on the northbound 14 Freeway near Agua Dulce Canyon Road, said Officer Josh Greengard of the California Highway Patrol Newhall Office.

“A good Samaritan called and reported seeing (the suspect) weaving,” Greengard said.

Once CHP officers located the vehicle, they conducted a traffic stop, where officers determined the suspect to be allegedly driving under the influence, according to Greengard.

The driver, 35-year-old Palmdale resident Wilfredo Diaz, was arrested and charged with his fourth DUI, a felony.

If a person has four DUI arrests in 10 years, or if they injure or kill another person while driving under the influence, the charge is upgraded to a felony, Greengard said.

Diaz was transported and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, with bail set at $50,000, according to arrest records.
